Multicolor Crochet Stitch Pattern "Dianthus"

The pattern is made of the soft wool yarn in two contrasting colors. For sample make chain stitches a multiple of 12, plus 6 chains.

The pattern is consist of "shells", which is made of three double crochet and have a common base. "Shells" alternate in a checkerboard pattern. 1 row (burgundy): 1 double crochet in 6th chain from hook, 2 chains, 1 double crochet in same chain, * skip 3 chains, 5 single crochet, skip 3 chains, make base (description above) *, skip 3 chains, 5 single crochet, skip 3 chains, 1 double crochet in last chain, 2 chains, 1 double crochet in same chain;

2 row (burgundy): 2 turning chains, 3 double crochet in space under two chains of previous row, 1 double crochet in double crochet of previous row, * 3 single crochet in central three of five single crochet of previous row, make shell (description above) *, 3 single crochet in central three of five single crochet of previous row, 1 double crochet in double crochet of previous row, 3 double crochet in space under two chains, 1 double crochet in double crochet of previous row;

3 row (white): 1 turning chain, 3 single crochet, * make base in central of three single crochet of previous row, 5 single crochet in central five stitches of shell *, make base in central of three single crochet of previous row, 3 single crochet in last three stitches of previous row;

4 row (white): 1 turning chain, 2 single crochet, * make shell, 3 single crochet in central three of five single crochet of previous row *, make shell, 2 single crochet;

5 row (white): 5 chain, 1 double crochet in first stitch of previous row, * 5 single crochet in central five stitches of shell, make base in central of three single crochet of previous row *, 5 single crochet in central five stitches of shell, 1 double crochet in last single crochet of previous row, 2 chains, 1 double crochet in same stitch.

The pattern repeats from 2nd row.
