I went last year, but didn't make it this year. It sounds like I missed some interesting knitting projects that I would love to see. There was a project called News Knitter where news is automatically gathered from the Internet and knit into an interesting pattern on a sweater. There was a project that knit a scarf with a pattern based on swiping your credit card and a knitting machine that knit in response to the participants voice.

Read more at Clothesline Display, credit card scarves and news knitter and Voice Knitting Machine at We Make Money Not Art.

Ever Knit a Knitty?

I just got this email in my inbox from Knitty:

Already we're seeing "back-to-school" ads on tv...which means fall
can't be too far away! [Where *did* the summer go?]

But before school starts, there's another important deadline you don't
want to miss: the Knitty Calendar Contest! August 17th is the date,
and all the details are here:

http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer07/2008contest.html

If you've ever knit anything from a Knitty pattern and you can take a
fine photograph, you're eligible to enter! The grand prize photo goes
on the cover of the calendar and earns the winner a [not exaggerating]
huge box of yarn, knitting books and other surprises.

Anyone, anywhere in the world is eligible to enter. And we hope you do!

To see the kind of photos that have won in previous years, take a peek
at our 2006 and 2007 calendars right here:

2006: http://www.cafepress.com/knitty.34759783
2007: http://www.cafepress.com/knitty.81870844

---

This fall's issue marks our 5th anniversary. We're rather plotzing
about this.
